I thought I had my Philly style cheesesteak sandwich down to a T until I received a shipment of ShopRite’s delicious sauces and marinades to try. Then I realized that using one of the Marinades and one of the sauces in this sandwich could add jut the bit of pizzaz it needed.

I went to college at Haverford College in suburban philly so during those years, I was introduced to Philly’s famous cheesesteak. My rendition is a bit more wholesome than the traditional grub at Pats and Genos (I doubt they use grass fed rib eye) but still plenty delicious. It brings back memories of those fun college days for me.

Sasha’s Philly Style Cheesesteak (makes two)
1/2 a bottle of ShopRite Teriyaki Marinade with Pineapple Juice
About 1lb (two steaks) pound of grass fed rib eye
2 medium sized onions
1 T sugar
2 T olive oil
1 sliced roasted red pepper
sliced provolone cheese
ShopRite Asian Style Teriyaki sauce
2 hero rolls, toasted

To prepare the meat, marinade overnight in ShopRite’s Teriyaki Marinade with Pineapple Juice. This will infuse the rib eye with those fabulous pineapple and teriyaki flavors. I always use local grass fed rib eye for this and its just fantastic with the marinade. Cook the steaks as desired on a grill pan or an outdoor, grill, tenting with a piece of tin toil during the process and flipping halfway. When they are done, you can slice them using a knife, or slice super thin using an electric meat knife if you prefer. I like to do the latter, but the meat knife scares my sweet little pug Dakota, so I didn’t do it this time!

Next prepare the caramelized onions. Slice the onions into rings and cook in canola oil with a tablespoon of sugar until nicely browned and caramelized.  Divide the rib eye between the two toasted heroes and top with the caramelized onions, sliced roasted red pepper and provolone and put in the oven at 250 for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.  Top with a bit of ShopRite’s teriyaki sauce and serve. Yum! Pure summer steak goodness!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: As a POTLUCKTM blogger, I received the ShopRite’s Asian Style Teriyaki sauce and ShopRite Teriyaki Marinade with Pineapple Juice from ShopRite for free.
